Description
Enjoy a deliciously sweet and warm Caramelized Banana Split Delight, perfect for a quick dessert.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ripe bananas
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2–3 scoops vanilla ice cream
- Handful of pecans or walnuts
- Caramel sauce (optional, for drizzling)
- A pinch of sea salt (optional)
- Whipped cream (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Bananas: Peel the bananas and slice them in half lengthwise.
- Caramelize the Bananas: In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the brown sugar and stir until it dissolves and starts to bubble. Add the sliced bananas to the skillet, cut side down. Cook for about 2-3 minutes, then gently flip and cook the other side for another 2 minutes. Add the vanilla extract, gently swirling the pan to mix the flavors.
- Assemble the Banana Split: In a serving bowl, place the caramelized bananas. Add the scoops of vanilla ice cream on top or beside the bananas. Sprinkle with pecans or walnuts for added crunch. Drizzle with caramel sauce if desired. Add a pinch of sea salt on top for a flavor contrast.
- Finishing Touches: Optionally, top with a dollop of whipped cream.
Notes
- Ensure the bananas are ripe but firm to avoid them becoming too mushy.
- For extra flavor, consider adding a splash of rum when caramelizing.
- For a nutty touch, toast the pecans or walnuts lightly before adding.
- This dessert is best served immediately to enjoy the contrast of warm bananas and cold ice cream.
