Description

Delicious and easy butter cookies perfect for decorating or enjoying on their own.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp almond extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract; mix until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder before gradually adding it to the wet mixture until just combined.
  5. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about ¼ inch thickness and cut into desired shapes.
  6. Place the cutouts on ungreased baking sheets and bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  7. Cool on wire racks before decorating.

Notes

  • For a firmer dough, refrigerate for 30 minutes before rolling out.
  • Decorate with icing or sprinkles after cooling.
