Ingredients

- 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter (room temperature)
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ tsp almond extract (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract; mix until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder before gradually adding it to the wet mixture until just combined.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about ¼ inch thickness and cut into desired shapes.
- Place the cutouts on ungreased baking sheets and bake for 8-10 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
- Cool on wire racks before decorating.
Notes
- For a firmer dough, refrigerate for 30 minutes before rolling out.
- Decorate with icing or sprinkles after cooling.
