Description

A refreshing dessert layered with ladyfingers, mascarpone, fresh strawberries, and coffee.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 24 ladyfinger biscuits (savoiardi)
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 cup strawberry preserves or jam
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup brewed coffee, cooled
  • Cocoa powder for dusting
  • Fresh strawberries for garnish
  • Mint leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cream Mixture:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the mascarpone cheese, heavy cream, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract.
    • Whip the mixture with a hand mixer until soft peaks form. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the Coffee Mixture:
    • Brew 1 cup of coffee and let it cool.
    • Pour the cooled coffee into a shallow dish.
  3. Layer the Dessert:
    • Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled coffee, ensuring they absorb the liquid but do not become too soggy.
    • Arrange a layer of coffee-dipped ladyfingers at the bottom of a 9×9 inch dish.
    • Spread half of the mascarpone cream mixture over the ladyfingers.
    • Evenly spread a layer of strawberry preserves or jam over the cream.
    • Add a layer of sliced strawberries on top of the jam.
    • Repeat with another layer of coffee-dipped ladyfingers, the remaining mascarpone cream, and another layer of strawberry preserves and slices.
  4. Chill:
    • Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight to allow flavors to meld.
  5. Serve:
    • Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder.
    • Garnish with fresh strawberries and mint leaves if desired.

Notes

  • Ensure the coffee is completely cooled before dipping the ladyfingers to prevent them from becoming too soft.
  • Adjust the sweetness of the mascarpone cream by tasting and adding more sugar if desired.
  • For a flavor twist, consider adding a splash of strawberry liqueur to the coffee for soaking the ladyfingers.
  • Allowing the tiramisu to chill overnight enhances the flavors and texture.
