Description
A delectable rich chocolate marble cake that combines vanilla and chocolate flavors for a delightful dessert.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons hot water
Instructions
- Preheat and Prep: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- Mix the Batter: In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract. In another bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture alternately with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
- Prepare Chocolate Batter: In a small bowl, mix cocoa powder and hot water to form a smooth paste. Divide the batter in half. Gently fold the cocoa paste into one half.
- Create the Marble Effect: Spoon dollops of vanilla and chocolate batter alternately into the prepared pan. Use a knife to swirl the batters together for a marbled effect. Don’t overmix.
- Bake the Cake: Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for best results.
- For a richer flavor, consider adding a tablespoon of instant coffee granules to the cocoa paste.
- Use a gentle hand while swirling the batter to maintain distinct marbling.
- Store the cake in an airtight container to keep it moist.
