Instructions

  1. Prepare the Mascarpone Mixture:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the mascarpone cheese, heavy cream, sugar, and vanilla extract.
    • Use an electric mixer to beat the mixture until smooth and creamy. Do not overbeat as it may curdle.
  2. Prepare the Coffee Mixture:
    • In a shallow dish, mix the cooled espresso or coffee with the coffee liqueur (if using).
  3. Assemble the Dessert Cups:
    • Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the coffee mixture, ensuring it’s not soaked.
    • Place a layer of soaked ladyfingers at the bottom of each dessert cup or ramekin.
    • Spread a layer of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
    • Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and top with more mascarpone mixture.
  4. Chill:
    • Dust the top layer generously with cocoa powder.
    • Cover and refrigerate the dessert cups for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to set.
