Description
A deliciously moist banana walnut cake that’s perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- 2 large eggs
- 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- ½ cup sour cream
- Optional: Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
- Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Incorporate the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Next, add the mashed bananas and mix until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt to combine thoroughly.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the sour cream. Stir until just combined—do not overmix.
- Gently fold in the chopped walnuts and vanilla extract until evenly distributed.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan, smoothing the top with a spatula. Bake in the preheated oven for 50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean from the center.
- Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes. Then, carefully transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- This cake can be dusted with powdered sugar before serving for an extra touch of sweetness.
