Description

Enjoy your deliciously indulgent gourmet chocolate hazelnut donuts!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 1/4 cups milk (warm)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup Nutella or chocolate hazelnut spread
  • 1/2 cup chopped hazelnuts
  • For topping chocolate praline candies (like Ferrero Rocher)
  • For frying vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Dough Preparation:
    1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and instant yeast.
    2. Add warm milk, melted butter, and the egg into the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms.
    3. Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
    4. Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
  2. Shaping and Frying:
    1. Punch down the risen dough and roll it out to about 1/2-inch thickness.
    2. Use a round cutter to cut out donut shapes. Cover and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.
    3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
    4. Fry the donuts in batches for about 2 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  3. Decorating:
    1. Once slightly cooled, spread Nutella over the top of each donut.
    2. Sprinkle chopped hazelnuts over the Nutella spread.
    3. Place a chocolate praline candy on each donut for garnish.

Notes

  • Ensure the milk is only warm and not hot to avoid killing the yeast.
  • For a variation, fill the donuts with Nutella using a piping bag before frying.
  • Keep an eye on the frying temperature as overheating can burn the donuts.
  • These donuts are best enjoyed the same day they are made for optimal freshness.
