Description

A rich and indulgent layered cheesecake that combines chocolate cake, creamy cheesecake, and a luscious chocolate layer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 16 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream, for topping
  • Maraschino cherries, for garnishing
  • Chocolate syrup, for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Chocolate Cake Base:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch round cake pan. In a large bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth. Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Allow to cool completely.

  2. Prepare the Chocolate Layer:
In a double boiler, melt chocolate chips with heavy cream until smooth and glossy. Pour the chocolate over the cooled cake base and spread evenly. Refrigerate until set.

  3. Prepare the Cheesecake Layer:
Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C). In a bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Add sugar and vanilla, and mix until combined. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Pour the cheesecake mixture over the chocolate layer on the cake base. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the center is set. Allow to cool, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.

  4. Assemble and Serve:
Carefully remove the cheesecake from the pan. Top with whipped cream and maraschino cherries. Drizzle with chocolate syrup before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for a smoother batter.
  • For extra flavor, consider adding a teaspoon of coffee to the chocolate cake batter.
  • If the top of the cheesecake cracks, don’t worry—cover it with whipped cream for a beautiful finish.
