A delightful treat combining chocolate and hazelnuts into a delicious donut.

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 3/4 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup Nutella or chocolate-hazelnut spread
- 1/2 cup chopped hazelnuts
- 8–10 Ferrero Rocher chocolates (or similar)
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips
- Oil for frying (if using a fryer)
Instructions
- Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, mix together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, whisk eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let it rest for 10 minutes.
- Shape the Donuts: Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/2 inch thickness. Use a donut cutter to cut out shapes. Reroll the scraps to make more donuts.
- Fry the Donuts: Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Fry the donuts in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 2-3 minutes per side. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.
- Prepare the Topping: In a small saucepan, melt the chocolate chips over low heat until smooth. Spread a spoonful of Nutella onto each cooled donut. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the Nutella layer.
- Garnish: Sprinkle chopped hazelnuts on top of each donut. Place a Ferrero Rocher chocolate in the center of each donut for decoration and added flavor.
Notes
- Ensure the oil is at the correct temperature for frying to prevent greasy donuts.
- Use a wire rack to cool donuts completely before applying the chocolate layer to avoid melting.
- For added flavor, lightly toast hazelnuts before chopping them.
- If you prefer baking, bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15-20 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
