Description

A delicious cheddar beef pie with a flaky crust, perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup mushrooms, chopped (optional)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp dried thyme
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 sheets store-bought puff pastry or pie crust
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned.
  3. Add the diced onion and cook until softened, about 3–4 minutes.
  4. Stir in garlic, mushrooms, salt, pepper, thyme, and paprika and cook for another 1–2 minutes.
  5. Add tomato paste, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce; simmer on low heat for 5–7 minutes until slightly thickened.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheddar cheese.
  7. Roll out one sheet of puff pastry or pie crust to fit your pie dish.
  8. Press it into the bottom and sides of the dish.
  9. Pour the beef and cheese filling into the crust.
  10. Cover with the second sheet of pastry, sealing the edges with a fork or by pinching.
  11. Cut small slits on the top to allow steam to escape.
  12. Brush the top with beaten egg.
  13. Bake in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and flaky.
  14. Let the pie rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing and serving.
